The researches executed on low peat land in valley Supraśl. It defi nited concentration of ammonium ions NH4 and nitrate ions NO3-. Ground waters contained higher concentration of ammonium ions to 1,75 mg NH4ּdm-3 and lower concentration nitrate ions 5,04 mg NO3ּdm-3. The concentration of total organic carbon TOC was enough high and amounts to 60,27 mg Cּdm-3. On the concentrations of these components...
The paper presents the method of an initial identification of the presence of metallic elements in soil, which is an alternative method to chemical investigations. The applied method consisiting in the evaluation of the magnetic susceptibility of soil is an easily measurable geophysical value describing capability of a given substance to magnetizing changes under the influence of the exterior magnetic...
Water-environmental subsystem of the Raszynka catchment area is build of: spatial units called hydrotops and ecohydrotops which have an important role of ground and surface water recharge, the river and its inflows with water reservoirs which act as connections and carriers of water and chemical constituents. The main elements of the subsystem are as follows: hydrological node area “Magdalenka” -...
The article presents impact of weir on diversifi cation of quality and quantity of water resources and phytocoenosis. The study area was at Konstancin-Jeziorna weir on Jeziorka River. Jeziorka River is the Landscape Protected Area. In that case the weirs can not contribute to unfavourable environmental change and to deteriorate water quality. Water quality and hydrometric measurements was investigated...
On the basis of a 40 year period (1965-2004), an assessment of the effect of main agrometeorological elements on the time of growth stages, sowing, harvesting and the length of successive growth periods of semi-late onion in central western Poland was carried out. An increase in the soil and air temperature, real sunshine and air humidity deficiency distinctly shortens the length of semi-late onion...
The water flow description in open channel through submerged flexible stems is derived from stationary uniform flow equation. The turbulent shear stresses were calculated using Boussinesqu equation. In order to relate turbulent stresses to velocity gradients mixing length theory was used. The new numerical scheme is appropriate for analysis of the vertical velocity profile through submerged flexible...
The paper presents the preliminary results of functioning of two household sewage treatment plants with activated sludge. The plants studied are highly effective in pollutant removal from domestic sewage. In the plant operated for one year, the efficiency of removal of total suspended solids is 99%, and the efficiency of reduction of BZT5 and ChZT is 96% and 95% respectively. The plant is also capable...
The system of works serving land reform consists mainly of: water melioration, agrotechnical melioration, forest melioration, fitomelioration and land reclamation. The paper presents the identification of land reform operations on the background of their systematics, the degree of complexity of separate types of works and the place of land reclamation in this system. The improvement of spatial organizational...
Two last decades of the XX-th century are characterized by significant changes in the air temperature in Poland. Growing air temperatures in different regions of Poland, especially in the last twenty years, result from the increasing values of sensible heat flux used for heating the atmosphere. Sensible heat flux is one of the components of heat balance, therefore this subject has affracted our attention...
The problems with protection of natural ecological areas in towns was presented on real instance. Description of hydrogeological characteristic (conditions and directions groundwater flow) was the base fore discussion on the law regulations and the compromise between protection areas and their urbanization.
The Biebrza River valley is covered by different types of vegetation as grasses, sedges, reeds, shrubbery and trees. In compliance with the elements of methodology of the river-bed flow capacity calculations has been distinguishable oneself three types of vegetation height. High vegetation is considered as higher than the water level flow. Vegetation which height is equal to water level, mainly is...
The aim of the paper was to determine a CO2 emission rate from peat-muck soils depending on moisture conditions of sites. The studies of CO2 emission were carried out at four experimental sites located in the region of the “Bełchatów” brown coal mine in 2002-2005. In the study period the highest CO2 emission was found at the site supplied with ground water - 851 mg m-2·h-1. At the sites deprived of...
The objective of this paper is an area structure analysis of conventional farms in the village of Biadacz and determination whether it favours conversion of the farms into ecological methods in the whole village. Registration data based on land register and cadastral map were collected and subject to statistical analysis to conduct the analysis and area structure evaluation of farms in the village...
Przemkowsko-Przecławskie swamps located in the South-Western Poland form a unique complex of wetlands. Natural environment of those swamps has suffered from major transformation on account of building land reclamation systems and due to lack of proper management for over 50 years. Nowadays Przemkowsko-Przecławskie swamps are under protection in the form of landscape park. Since the landscape park...
The aim of my work was definition and analysis elementary charakteristic spread floating solid particles at small dimension in compound cross-section channel. It was carry out position of solid particles (simulate passive pollution) on water surface and definition characteristic spread particles subject to diffrent points batching in channel and intensity of flow. It was also analysis coefficients...
Road routes cross numerous local valleys in which watercourses, conducting water constantly or periodically, are located. In these areas, there are suitable conditions for animal migrations between habitats dispersed along the watercourses, which provide easy access to water. To overcome the water barriers there are bridges built above them. These objects are often connected with the brinks of the...
The article includes technological calculations of the parameters of volume and weight balance of washings from iron and manganese removers. Research results of the variability distribution of dry substance in washing waters have been presented in the function of duration of filter washing, as well as results of sediment settling research. The conducted research allowed to optimise the frequency and...
The paper analyses and evaluates the state of art of development of rural areas in Poland in the view of structural policy as a part of agricultural policy in 1918-2006. The performed analysis was the basis for defining the most urgent activities within the scope and for presenting the importance of the scientific discipline “Environmental Development” for the development of rural areas. The study...
Results of domestic and foreign research are showing the negative influence of urban agglomerations on physicochemical properties of urban soils particularly for the accumulation of heavy metals. The aim of research was determining differences of chromium, nickel and lead contents in upper layer of soils from agglomeration of Warsaw and area regarded as athropogenically unchanged and comparing with...
The water level on the hydraulic structures is maintained by means of permanent or gated weirs. Conventional permanent dams are made with impermeable sills. Gated weirs are installed in rivers with low sills; the head of water on these objects is kept by movable closures. The constant concrete weirs’ role can be ful-filled also by the permeable rubble mound weirs. In the permeable stone weirs part...
